Are you looking for a wonderful place to enjoy both lunch and the view?  Here’s some suggestions that I think you will love.  Some are in town while others you will need transportation to get to…but it’s worth the trip!

In Mykonos Town and nearby

Little Venice Restaurants. Everyone gravitates to famous and romantic Little Venice.   You may want to find an available seat  at one of the restaurants right next to the sea.  There are several to choose from:

1. Kastro Bar at Little Venice  http://www.kastrosmykonos.com/

This used to be a bar only, but recently changed to a Greek Mediterranean restaurant with great views.  It has a lovely narrow side street access right the sea that is lined with tables for those who want to eat outside.

2. Alefkandra

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Restaurant-Alefkandra/208808732490551

It faces Alefkandra Bay at Little Venice It is located directly under the windmills. Established in 1964, the restaurant is among the oldest on the island.

Joannas Nikos Place   at Megali Ammos Beach

You can walk from town.  Go to the back of the Chora where the buses are. At the busy intersection take the road to the right and follow the shore to Joannas Nikos Place.  It’s traditional greek food with a view on the beach.

Outside Mykonos Town

4. Konstantis Taverna    Ornos Beach

I love this place! They serve high quality Greek and international cuisine in a nice relaxed environment on the beach. The prices are very reasonable.  I often go there for breakfast as well.  You can take an early morning swim before the crowds and then have your breakfast or lunch.

5. Sol y Mar    Kalo Livadi Beach

A beautiful open air taverna right by the beach. It is also great for dinner or very late lunch. Great atmosphere, music and celebrity spotting, offering a contemporary Greek cuisine and fresh BBQ fish.

6. Nammos Restaurant by the Sea at  Psarou Beach

You won’t get a table or beach chair without a reservation at Nammos and expect to spend more. It is known for an  extremely stylish “in-crowd” clientele.  Food is excellent, includes simple salads, fresh grilled fish and mouth-watering chocolate desserts. Excellent service. You can have leisurely lunches or romantic dinners by the sea here.

7. Fokos Tavern

This hidden taverna is located on the secluded beach of Fokos in the bay of Myrsini, to the north of Mykonos . The tavern is the only building on the shore. The cuisine is Greek traditional and dishes are prepared from fresh local meat and fresh fish from the day’s catch. Barbecued octopus, grilled fish, Greek salads, pork and lamb dishes, home baked bread and homemade desserts are some of the specialties at Fokos. You can have a lovely meal in a relaxed beach atmosphere.   The beach is a bit out of the way. To get there, one has to travel to the village of Ano Mera, take a turn and follow the signs to Fokos Beach.

8. Hippie Fish   at the beach of Agios Ioannis

This is another favorite of mine. It is an upscale restaurant located on the beach of Agios

Ioannis, a great beach on the island with spectacular views of Delos. This is the restaurant where the movie Shirley Valentine was filmed in 1989. The Hippie Fish Restaurant offers a diverse menu that includes authentic
Mediterranean and Greek cuisines.

9. Kikis Tavern   at Agios Sostis

This cozy tavern is perfectly located above the beach at Agios Sostis  It was alway a hidden treasure for the locals, but the tourists have found it. It’s very tiny but so worth a wait!! Food is grilled in the open on a charcoal barbeque because there is no electricity, so you can’t phone ahead and book a table. The restaurant also relies on the memory of its owner, who sees that everybody is served in the order they arrive. Go early for lunch! Tucked away above the bay there are also no signposts meaning the best way to discover this little establishment is to rely on your nose. The aroma of the charcoal barbeque carries all the way to the beach and the menu offers a range of grilled local fish and traditional meat dishes, well-priced and served in healthy portions. Guests can enjoy the calm and secluded atmosphere of this little eatery from the small, shaded patio which directly overlooks the sea.

10. Jackie O’s Beach   at Super Paradise Beach

This is not suggested for young families but worth a visit without the kids. It is on the cliffs overlooking Super Paradise Beach.  For many years it was Coco’s Bar but recently changed to Jackie O’s with a chic atmosphere. It has a very large open air bar, pool, jacuzzi and terraced restaurant seating for 150.  It is on the west end of the beach known for being a nude, gay friendly beach There are lively transvestite shows before sunset by the pool.

11. Elia Restaurant  at Elia Beach

I remember this place when it was the original tiny taverna on the beach with nothing around it.  The family owned restaurant has since expanded into a much larger establishment with organized beach lounges and service if you prefer to eat right at your lounge chair. The menu is large and reasonably priced.

12. Liasti at Lia Beach

The restaurant is set back a little from the beach, but If you like a quiet beach, then this is the place to go. Formerly Lia’s Restaurant, it was transformed into Liasti, . The owners grow their own vegetables and use local ingredients.  You will enjoy the food.

13. Marcos Taverna

This is a very simple authentic fish taverna .  Fishing boats are docked right behind it.  This little peninsula at the opposite end of the island from the Chora, has been a small fishing village quite different from the rest of the island.  It is eventually going to all be torn down for modern development, so if you get the chance to visit, do so before it’s gone.

14. Apaggio Restaurant

You will find this gem of a restaurant in Ornos.  It is located on the east side beyond Ornos beach.  You can walk to it from the beach.  The view is breathtaking, fresh seafood prepared to perfection with friendly service.  The prices are very reasonable.  You have a choice of sitting outside by the water or inside with huge windows open to the sea.
